Suttons Bay and North Port Mi

I didn't get a chance to post this last week but wanted to add it to my blog.  We ventured north to the Traverse City area last weekend, and along with it went to one of my favorite places in the state.  Suttons Bay.  I don't know why but years ago I fell in love with that town.  Just something about it and its charm.  There use to be a restaurant there known as the Fire House Pub, it has since changed its name. I always said they had the best bar burger in the state of Michigan.
With its brightly colored store fronts, Suttons Bay reminds you of a town you may find on the east coast. With the population of only a little over 600 people this town has a wonderful feel.
Founded it 1854 when a group of followers ventured north with Harry C Sutton who came to the area to provide lumber for the state.  Years later farmers started to plant cherry trees and it became one of the largest cherry producers in the nation.  Along with cherries many farmers started to grow grapes because of the rich soil and norther location that was perfect for growing.  Now you can find several wineries in the area.  So take the M-22 tour and visit the beautiful small towns and wineries in the area.
